Before using The Hidden Gem Lapidary Arts Studio independently, every guest must complete our **Bench Safety Course**. This class is designed to make sure you understand how to work safely, confidently, and respectfully around shared studio equipment.
We’ll cover proper PPE, eye and respiratory protection, safe clothing and hair practices, water and electrical safety, emergency shutoffs, correct workstation setup, tool inspection, cleanup procedures, and what to do if equipment is damaged or behaving unexpectedly.

Worth the trip!! Stunning new store - beautifully displayed rock and mineral specimens, air plants, incense, small gifts, something for everyone! The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and cut/polished obsidian stones I found, a notoriously temperamental stone in lapidary work. He quoted me a very fair flat price, then ended up spending many extra hours on them without charge. Now I can't wait to find more rocks to have cut open! Will definitely be back to shop and talk rocks.

The Hidden Gem is great :) I had a rock that I inherited from my dad that had never been cut. Shane was very knowledgeable and advised me on the possibilities it could be should I decide to cut it. Initially he advised against cutting but after discussing further we decided to go ahead and cut it. It was a solid rock and needed a stronger blade that ended up taking about 1.5 hrs to get all the way through.
The results were amazing :) As most probably do, we had been hoping for a geode or crystals, however what we got was so much better! We ended up with a large thunder egg that revealed rhyolite, chalcedony and agate. Shane was able to give us a probable location as to where my dad had actually gotten the thunder egg based on the internal contents as well as give us an age estimate (21-25 million years!).
He provided me a great write up with all the information which I was able to share with the rest of my family who were excited to hear all about it. I am 100% happy that we decided to go ahead with cutting the rock and I am also 100% happy that The Hidden Gem was the place we went to have it cut :) - Kallen Smith··from Google

He puts real effort into knowing the exact origin of every piece and turns away anything that doesn't meet his standards. That approach works together with the natural lattice structures of the crystals to curate a steady, tangible, and harmonious feeling in the space. On my first visit i picked one stone i kept thinking about, held it in my hand for a while and it felt right. My mom also had the same experience when she visited. The atmosphere there reflects the actual properties of these stones instead of hype. I left with real gratitude for finding a place that holds such standards..
